Basic Shotgun Shooting
Students take this course to learn how to properly utilize a shotgun to shoot a moving target. This course is at least 10 hours long and takes place in the classroom and at the range.
Learning objectives include:
- NRA’s rules for safe gun handling,
- shotgun parts and operation,
- shotgun shell components and malfunctions,
- shooting fundamentals,
- range rules,
- shooting at straight away and angled targets,
- cleaning, and
- continued opportunities for skill development.
Course materials include:
- NRA’s Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook,
- NRA’s Gun Safety Rules brochure,
- Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet,
- the Basics of Shotgun Shooting examination, and
- a course completion certificate.
