FIRST Steps Shotgun Orientation
Students take this course to receive a hands-on orientation to one specific shotgun model. The course is at least 3 hours long and takes place in the classroom and at the range. Class size is limited to 4 or fewer students.
Learning objectives include:
- NRA’s rules for safe gun handling,
- the particular shotgun model parts and operation,
- discussion of ammunition,
- shooting fundamentals,
- cleaning,
- and opportunities for further skill development.
Course materials include:
- NRA’s Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook,
- NRA’s Gun Safety Rules brochure,
- NRA/Winchester Marksmanship booklet, and
- a FIRST Steps course completion certificate.
