IL Concealed Carry
Illinois finally joined the rest of the nation by passing Concealed Carry Legislation in July of 2013.
Phoenix Firearms Training, Ltd., employs trainers approved by the Illinois State Police to conduct this training. Additionally, our IL Concealed Carry curriculum has been approved by the State. During concealed carry training, students will learn about the law-abiding person’s right to self-defense and the statutes surrounding those rights. Additionally, the course covers storage, shooting fundamentals, firearm familiarization, dry fire drills, live fire drills, a qualification, and written test. We offer training from law enforcement firearms trainers only. These instructors are proficient in defensive firearms skills and well-versed in the law – we look forward to sharing our knowledge and skills with you!
Let’s talk training!
We offer IL Concealed Carry 16-hour course (Part I & Part II) and IL Concealed Carry 8-hour course (Part II). Part I of this course should be a refresher covering shooting safety & fundamentals, firearm familiarization & storage. Part II of this course covers new skills (drawing from concealment) and Illinois legislation.
*** Beginning in 2018, we will offer a new course: IL Concealed Carry Update. Our day-long class will exceed the minimum 3-hours required by the State of Illinois. During that time, we will review the applicable statutes and firearms fundamentals and qualify. Additionally, we will provide students with additional training topics we were unable to include in the primary concealed carry course due to time constraints. These topics may include ammunition management/magazine changes, use of cover & concealment, using varied shooting positions, and scenario-based training. ***
Concealed Carry is a serious commitment requiring proper training and regular practice. This is considered an advanced skill and is NOT for beginning shooters. Interested students should have shooting experience and plan to attend this class utilizing whatever firearm they have selected for concealed carry. Students who have the necessary experience and documentation to place out of Part I or some part of the training MUST contact Phoenix Firearms Training, Ltd., prior to signing up for Part II.
